He stood at the entrance to the cave, as his son was deep inside searching for things that might spark interest in a young boys life.

“Eli,” He yelled down into the cave.

“Eli. Eli. Eli,” He heard his voice continue down through the cave, bouncing off every wall and column.

He liked the sound as it slowly faded into the darkness. He yelled again. “Where are you?”

Are you…Are you?

He wasn’t worried because he himself had ventured into the darkness of the cave and new every turn. He knew if Eli would follow his voice he could get out of the cave and find him at the top. So he just kept yelling.

“I’m right here.” Here…here. “Follow my voice.” Voice….voice.

He started to hear the sound of foot steps. And the louder the footsteps got the more excited and louder her began to yell into the cave.

He reached his hand down into the cave and felt a hand cling onto his. He pulled with all his might as Eli’s feet touched the sun light ground.

PSALM 29:3-9

3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;

    the God of glory thunders,

    the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.

4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;

    the voice of the Lord is majestic.

5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;

    the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,

    Sirion like a young wild ox.

7 The voice of the Lord strikes

    with flashes of lightning.

8 The voice of the Lord shakes the desert;

    the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.

9 The voice of the Lord twists the oaks

    and strips the forests bare.

And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

The voice of God is a very powerful thing. Not only is it the very thing that created life but it is also the thing that continues to echo to sustain life.

God calls for his children in this dark word and His voice echoes around bouncing off of everything so that we can’t help but hear it. All we have to do is follow the voice of God.

If we listen closely for Gods voice and every time we hear it take one step towards Him his voice will get louder and louder the closer we get to him. Pretty soon we will be sprinting after the voice calling for us. With our ears fixed on the sound that echos around us, all the other voices will be drowned out and all we will hear is Him.
