WHAT'S UP REAL MEN!!!
My grandfather loved westerns. He was always reading western novels, and growing up I must have seen just about all of the John Wayne westerns that are in color. Westerns guided what it was to be a man to the World War II generation. It was the strong and silent type. It shows a man is somebody who doesn’t talk much, and who is able to handle just about anything. My grandfather was a man of few words.
Silence can definitely be strength. It can also be isolation. In Psalm 102, the writer cries out:
Today’s generation isn’t a generation of the western. It’s a generation of the internet and social media. Everybody is plugged in, yet studies show it is the most lonely and isolated generation. So many of us feel like the psalmist, a lonely sparrow on the housetop. The solution isn’t just to ‘tough it out’ silently, or to drink whiskey like a Clint Eastwood character. No matter where we are in life, or what burdens we are carrying, we have a constant friend in Jesus.
I am like a desert owl of the wilderness, like an owl of the waste places; I lie awake; I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop – Psalm 102:6-7
Jesus said, I am with you always, to the end of the age. The bible also declares that He has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you, and the Bible also says, there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Because we have Jesus, we are never alone. He walked the earth as a man; He went through every kind of temptation and trial and He understands what we are going through. As we pour out our heart to Him, He sends the Holy Spirit to comfort us in every situation. Because of Jesus, we never have to be lonely, or feel isolated. He is strong. As we lean on Him, He gives us the strength to face every challenge head on. Through Jesus you are gonna make it through in victory. Cry out to Him this morning, and receive strength today!
