JAMES 5:13-20

13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

19 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, 20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

And see scriptures says the prayers of the righteous prevaileth much.

A couple years ago I was at my cousin’s house back in Ohio, which by the way in case you are wandering, Ohio is God’s country, because God is definitely a Buckeye! Just sayin…..LOL. Anyway, I was there visiting my family for Christmas and while I was there we went to my cousin’s for dinner. My cousin and I have been best of friends since we were little because we are right around the same age and so we naturally gravitated toward one another. So every time I go home I make it a point to go spend some focused time with him. My cousin and I were always together when we were younger and so we did everything together, which was usually not a good thing because we were usually up to no good. We have a really tough past together. We partied together, we fought together, and so together we were really rough characters. But God is so crazy good! See when I gave my life to Christ, my cousin and I went our different ways. He kept partying and getting into trouble and because that was not the life I lived, we were hardly ever together. I would see him on occasion and when I did, he would try to get me to party and hang out, but of course I was like no way man, I have decided to follow Jesus and for me there is no turning back. See I was not going to compromise my walk with the King for a drink. I was not compromising my life with Jesus to party. There is no way I would compromise my testimony of what Jesus has done in my life for a buzz. It’s just not going to happen. And because that is the way he lived, he didn’t want to be around me, and so we grew a part over the years, hardly even talking for nearly 5 years. But then 1 day about 7 years ago I was on a fast and the Lord spoke to me to pray for my cousin’s salvation. He told me to pray that he would have a revelation of who Jesus is, and so I did. And I am not kidding the prayers I prayed for him was not just a fluffy nice prayer. I travailed before God on my cousin’s behalf. I had this intense burden for him that drove me to ugly crying for him. Pleading with my King to redeem what the enemy had stolen from my family. And then after about 5 days the burden for my cousin lifted and I no longer felt by the Spirit that I needed to pray for him, and so I stopped. Then about 4 days after that I got a call from my cousin. He got my number from my mom and called and told me, with such joy and hope in his voice, he said to me guess what cuzz, I gave my life to Jesus!!! I am telling you I was so overwhelmed with so much thanksgiving to God that I began to rejoice with tears, and I have to be honest with you as I write about this, I have tears streaming down face, because what was once lost is now found, what was once dead is now alive because of Jesus Christ! Incredible!!!  Then a couple months after that, he came to my house and I baptized him in the little Juniata river, God is so GOOD!!!!!

So let me encourage you to pray for your loved ones, pray for those you are in relationship with, because prayer works. It is powerful and effective. Matter of fact, Jesus says if you ask anything in my name it will done for you when you ask in faith. See faith causes the hand of God to move in and around our lives. So have faith that what you asked for will be done in Jesus name. Real Men, make sure you are a man that prays, because it is way more effective than our plans. And look invite God into every area of your life; pray for those business accounts, pray for that job offer, pray for that raise, literally pray for every area of your life, because God wants to play a part in every area of your life.
